Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi Saturday launched Bhubaneswar -Cuttack -Puri-Paradip Economic Region (BCPPER) plan which promises to generate business activities worth over 500 billion dollar by 2047.

The CM inaugurated over 80 projects and 30 policy initiatives as part of plan which has been prepared by the NITI Aayog.
NITI Aayog member Rajiv Choube and CEO BVR Subramaniyam were present on the inaugural ceremony, here today.
Speaking on the occasion, the CM said, “BCPPER would be developed as center of economic development of the State. This region is going to be a new star in the growth sky of India.
Majhi said each of the cities have their own strength such as Bhubaneswar in IT, Cuttack in business, Puri in culture and Paradip in meritime. Our plan is to connect these cities with modern infras and as many as 80 projects of metal downstream, biotech, textile, chemicals, tourism, education and IT. The region would be the laboratory of development with as many as 30 policy initiatives.”
The CM said, BCPPER has been included in the City Economic Region (CER) programme provided in the Budget FY 2027. The Budget has a provision of Rs5000 crore for each of the CER.
Majhi said the BCPPER is presently 19% of the State economy. The plan is now to make the economy 500 billion dollar by 2047 from the present 22.4 billion dollar.
BCPPER is the fifth such plan after Mumbai, Surat, Visakhapatnam and Varanasi in the country. The Centre plan 20 such CERs in the country.
Odisha Housing & Urban Development (H&UD) minister Dr. Krushnachandra Mohapatra, Chief Secretary Ms. Anu Garg and H&UD Additional Chief Secretary Ms. Usha Padhee were present.
