USTAD RASID KHAN AND PT. BISWA MOHAN BHATT OPENED RAJARANI MUSIC FESTIVAL

 

Bhubaneswar: The three-day Rajarani Music Festival got off on January 18, 2017 with Ustad Rasid Khan presenting Raag Marwa. He also rendered Thumri, Yaad Piya Ki Aayee… and Saajan Tumko Beetgaye….. Ustad Khan was accompanied by Subhankar Banerjee on Tabla and Alar Khan in Sarangi and Jyoti Goha in harmonium.

The second session of the opening day witnessed Pandit Biswa Mohan Bhatt mesmerizing the audience with his fingers on Mohan Veena. He played Raag Beehag along with tabla player Ram Gopal Mishra. He also presented a semi-classical composition with on Pradyut Banerjee tabla and Aveek Ganguli on key board.

 

The annual music festival comes  up on a stage with the magnificent RajaRani Temple of medieval period in the heart of Bhubaneswar city as the proscenium. This year, the US consulate general at Hyderabad, Kethrine Hada, former chief secretary of Odisha Tarun Kanti Mishra, tourism principal secretary Arati Ahuja and tourism director Nitin Bhanudas Jawle graced the opening ceremony. Odisha Research Centre chief Sangita Gosain and Sadhana Srivastav conducted the programme.
