Bhubaneswar: An inter-state bus terminal with all modern amenities would come up at Gopalpur between the twin city of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack soon.

The state transport minister, Dr.Nrusinha Charan Sahoo, Wednesday said that the terminal of international standard would be developed by the Bhubaneswar Development Authority over an area of 42 acres of land. He said this facility would be in addition to the two big bus stands of the state–Baramunda at Bhubaneswar and Badambadi at Cuttack– which would also be developed and modernized.

The work agreement for the Badambadi bus stand project would be signed within one week of finalization of the tender on August 19. Foundation for the project would be laid by the transport minister on September 11.

Stating that the government has planned to have bus stops in each of the 314 block headquarters of the state, the minister said that the Bhawanipatna, Jeypore, Angul and Bolangir bus stands would be developed and modernized.

The minister was reviewing the progress made in developing bus stands in the state. The state commerce and transport principal secretary, Sanjay Rashtogi, Odisha Police Housing Corporation chairman G.Upadhya and BDA vice chairman Dr. Kishan Kumar participated in the meeting.
