Bubaneswar, October 15: TRB Iron Ore Mines of Jindal Steel & Power Limited (JSPL) has won the prestigious Bala Gulshan Tandon FIMI Excellence Award for its efforts to ensure ecological balance through sustainable mining in the Tensa valley in Sundargarh district of Odisha.

The award was presented by Shri Anil Kumar Jain, Secretary, Ministry of Mines and Coal, GoI, in New Delhi on Wednesday.

Thanking the Jury of the Award Shri Pramod Kumar Patra, VP (Mines) said, “For sustainable mining, we always believe in innovation and implementation of technologies adhering to utmost safety standards. This will not only increase our efficiency but also put zero harm on environment.”

Congratulating JSPL’s Tensa team Mr. VR Sharma, Managing Director, JSPL, said,
“JSPL is committed to the highest standards of operation across all its units. Every award and recognition makes us more socially responsible and technically innovative for an Atmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India).

Mentionably, in January this year, TRB Iron Ore Mines, had won the prestigious TPM Excellence Award for the second time from Japan Institute of Plant Maintenance (JIPM), Tokyo, Japan. The mines was selected for the ‘Award for Excellence in Consistent TPM Commitment’.

In 2017, TRB mines became the first mines in India to receive TPM Excellence Award, for successful implementation of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) systems and process including  innovation, value creation, respect for the environment and people, operational excellence, accountability and flexibility in adaption to volatile, economic and social changes.

In November 2018, Institute of Quality & Environment Management Services (IQEMS) had honoured the mines for consecutive second time with prestigious Kalinga Safety Award-2017.
